RunWindow · Apple Watch + iPhone
Run by feel.
RunWindow taps you on the wrist when you drift outside the pace or heart-rate window you set, so you can run without looking at your watch.
Getting it on your watch
RunWindow runs on Apple Watch, because the cues are taps on your wrist. Download it from the App Store on your iPhone and it installs on your paired watch too. If it doesn't appear on the watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps and tap Install next to RunWindow.
From version 2.0 there's an iPhone app as well: set your window on the big screen, tap Start on Apple Watch to start the run on your wrist, and see every run's time in window. Settings sync both ways.
How it works
On the watch's Setup page choose HR or PACE, then set LOW and HIGH: tap a wheel and turn the Digital Crown, or pick a heart-rate zone in Settings. Press Start and drop your arm. New to it? Tap ? on Setup for a one-minute demo that plays every cue without running.
Holding a steady effort right on the edge of your window is deliberately silent — RunWindow waits for a real drift, not a wobble.
Permissions
- Health — reads your heart rate during the run and saves the finished run to Apple Health as a workout. If the run screen says NO ACCESS, open the Health app on your iPhone, tap your profile picture, then Apps, then RunWindow, and allow Heart Rate. The iPhone app also reads your RunWindow workouts from Health to show your history.
- Location — used only in pace mode, only while a run is active, to measure pace from GPS. If pace never appears, check Settings → Privacy → Location on your watch.
Common questions
"FINDING HR" won't clear. Heart rate usually arrives within fifteen seconds of Start. If it doesn't, the band is loose or Health access was denied (see above).
"FINDING GPS" takes a while. The watch needs a few good fixes before pace is trusted. Starting outdoors with a clear view of the sky helps; under bridges or between tall buildings pace will pause rather than guess.
Miles or kilometres? In pace mode, switch the unit on the Setup page or in the iPhone app's Window tab.
Where are my runs? Every completed run is saved to Apple Health as an outdoor running workout, and the iPhone app lists them with your time in window. RunWindow keeps no copy of its own.
